About Gordon and Diane Hansen

As a third generation real estate broker Diane G. Hansen began her career on the Central Coast as a sales agent for Red Carpet Real Estate (a family owned business in SLO) and concurrently as a regional director for Red Carpet Corporation of America. Gordon Hansen began his business career in 1971 in SLO running Hansen’s Towing and Automotive after his term of service with the United States Coast Guard. Ironically, he was stationed in Monterey and Morro Bay never really leaving his Central Coast roots!

In 1979 Gordon met a cute realtor named Diane Guskay and in 1980 they married and joined forces. Seeing the innovative materials for Electronic Realty Associates they opened their own office of ERA Progressive Real Estate in late 1980. Diane obtained her brokers license and Gordon rocketed to number 10 in the nation and number 4 in the state in real estate sales for ERA his first year in the industry, proves he was a natural from day one. They both went on to place in the top 1% of international franchise competition and have been long standing members of the Multi-million Club ever since. In 1982 ERA Progressive merged with Polin, Truchin & Cooper Realty and a year later they bought out the entirety of the largest local owned brokerage becoming ERA PT&C Realty.

In the mid 1980 the Hansens, seeing mortgage funding as a real weak point in the sales process, became licensed mortgage loan brokers. In 1988 they opened ERA Mortgage which eventually became a separate entity known as Daystar Mortgage and then they sold it to their partner Jim Douglas while continuing to work there and originate conventional and FHA/VA loans. As well as operating their real estate brokerage and the loan company Diane served as a review appraiser for RST and Mortgage Guarantee Insurance Corp. 1983-2017.

The Hansen’s migrated to ReMax Real Estate in 2000 after selling their office because it had the next level technology to benefit their clients and the business model that allowed them the autonomy to thrive as Broker-Associates. A perfect match that ended when the company owner retired. Keller Williams Central Coast Realty offered a very family concentric value and strong business model so they moved there and continued to serve the needs of the central coast.

Gordon and Diane hold certificates from the University of Southern California in Real Estate Appraisal; Practice; Finance, Principles Economics and Legal Aspects. The Hansen’s have lectured at local university and colleges and trained many real estate agents in the area that later went on to become broker owners of their own companies. Both are graduates of the Top Gun Real Estate Academy. In 1992 the Hansens were qualified as Expert Witness in the Federal Bankruptcy Court Los Angeles Division. Later in 2008 this distinction led to them handling a large portion of a bankruptcy estate for Thomas P. Jeremiassen which totaled over $350 million and over 540 distressed properties. Diane’s Realtor Emeritus status is a designation earned by only a very few Realtors. With over 49 years of service in the Coastal and National Association of Realtors this is a badge of ultimate reliability.

With nearly five decades of continuous work within the San Luis Obispo marketplace their career took them through many paths.
